How ECU remapping works on a diesel Mercedes S-class

The gains from remapping a diesel come from the engine management software rather than new parts: injection, boost and torque limits are re-mapped, which is why torque improves most and why the car often feels easier to drive at lower revs.

Of the 7 diesel S-class engines in our data, this one comes 6th for power gain, which is 4 bhp below the S-class diesel average of 37 bhp.
